Jamaica is a tropical island in the heart of the Caribbean and has a diverse and unique geography. It is a 146 mile long island with 4411 square miles of lush island. More than half of Jamaica is mountains above 1000 feet high, making it an island with a very rugged terrain. While the mountains are mostly on the interior, the coastlines are flat beaches that stretch for as long as the eye can see. There are over 120 rivers that flow from the interior to the coast. Jamaica is a beautiful island country with a lush tropical environment. It has a great history, friendly people, great hospitality and a relaxed atmosphere. There is a great amount of culture in Jamaica, but to find it, you may need to wander down a side street into a private gallery or just take a moment to wander in and visit with the natives. Montego Bay is Jamaica's second city in size and importance, but it is the island's tourism capital. It boasts the most hotel accommodation, the most transport facilities and is, in fact, a cosmopolitan holiday center, offering a wide choice of amenities. |
